The device has proximity sensor and evaluation unit (3) for data of environmental sensor. The environmental sensor is provided as a tire temperature sensor (2). The environmental information is determined, based on the temperature data of tire of motor vehicle (10), and temperature of road surface is determined based on temperature profile of tire temperature sensor.
