The base such as textile mat for storing foodstuffs such as cheese loaf, which is placed onto the base, comprises a textile surface and a textile undersurface, which extend parallel to each other and are spaced apart from each other by rigid monofilament transversely extending between the both surfaces. A cross-section and a lay angle of the monofilament determine the strain hardness of the textile mat. The textile mat has natural and/or synthetic fiber materials, yarns and or twines, is equipped with microbial function, and is provided with a water-proof coating at its lower side. An independent claim is included for a method for producing a base such as a textile mat.
