The invention relates to a method and a casting system for the directional solidification of a casting from aluminum or an aluminum alloy. The object of the invention is to provide a technical solution, with which by means of a lowering of the casting mold in a cooling medium a directional solidification in the case of different cross sections and high component of complete exit äten is made possible. This object is achieved with a method and with a casting installation released, and by the use of the solidification on the basis of the form of a cad - data record available casting part geometry can be controlled. With these data, the immersion speed of the fine casting grape in the cooling medium is controlled electronically. Thus, with the solidification speed of the melt, the casting part structure be optimized.
