The instrument (1) has a digital end effector (4) comprising two jaw parts (6, 7) arranged at a distal end of a shaft (2), such that one of the parts is pivotable relative to another part. A connecting rod (9) running over the length of the shaft is coupled with the parts, and a coupling head is arranged at an end of the rod. A handle has handle pieces (10, 11), and an electrode (25) is formed at one of the jaw parts, where one of the handle pieces is fastened to a main body (3). The electrode is connected to the handle by a plug pin (23) arranged in an area between the handle pieces.
