The surgical needle holder (1) has a shaft (2) extended in longitudinal direction, where a forceps jaw (3) is attached at distal end of the shaft, and a handle (6,7) is fixed at proximal end of the shaft. The shaft has two gripping pieces which are arranged relative to one another around an axis that stands transverse to the longitudinal axis. Two bearing points (18',20) for selective storage are provided for one of the bearing points. The bearing points are formed as joint receivers.
