The method involves emitting an ultrasound signal into a fluid conductor (L) by an ultrasound transmitter (S) such that the ultrasound signal passes through the fluid conductor. The ultrasound signal is received by an ultrasound receiver (E) after passing through the fluid conductor, and amplitudes of the received ultrasound impulses are evaluated in a preset time window. A peak value of the amplitudes of the received ultrasound impulses is determined within the preset time window. The amplitudes of the received ultrasound impulses are amplified before determining the peak value. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting gas bubbles in a fluid conductor comprising an ultrasound measuring device with an ultrasound transmitter and an ultrasound receiver.
