The diesel engine (1) has a shut-off device (3), a turbocharger system (4) and a reliable automatic shutoff (12). The actuators (35,36) of the throttle valves (9,11) are activated by the reliable automatic shutoff on disconnecting the diesel engine such that the former throttle valve or the latter throttle valve has a closed position on disconnecting the diesel engine. An independent claim is also included for a method for disconnecting a diesel engine.
