The method involves portioning a product in pasty condition, and transferring the product into a packaging. The product in the pasty condition is directly homogenized before transferring the product into the packaging and after portioning the product. A homogenizer (10) is arranged between a dosing device (4) and an outlet opening (11), and includes an agitator (18), where the agitator includes a rotation axis (17) that is located perpendicular to a conveying direction of the pasty product through the homogenizer. An independent claim is also included for a device for packing portioned pasty product.
