The mechanism (1) has a releasing element (5) movably arranged at a distance from a magnetic flux guide (2) so that gravitational force is exerted with a magnetic flux by the magnetic flux guide and the releasing element, where the force leads to movement of the releasing element. An excitation winding (3) surrounds a part of the guide and/or a part of the releasing element, to produce the magnetic flux during current feed by the magnetic flux guide. One or more cage windings (4) with one or more turns enclose a part of the magnetic flux guide and/or a part of the releasing element. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a high voltage switch comprising a release mechanism (2) a method for adjusting deceleration time for releasing a release mechanism.
