The method comprises providing a portion of a wall of quartz glass body with a layer that consists of crystallization promoter that causes a crystallization of quartz glass under formation of cristobalite during heating the quartz glass body at above 1400[deg] C, applying the crystallization promoter in connection with a polymerizable monomer on the wall, and producing a polymer layer (6, 8) containing the crystallization promoter by polymerization treatment. A monomer layer containing the monomer and crystallization promoter is applied on the wall. The method comprises providing a portion of a wall of quartz glass body with a layer that consists of crystallization promoter that causes a crystallization of quartz glass under formation of cristobalite during heating the quartz glass body at above 1400[deg] C, applying the crystallization promoter in connection with a polymerizable monomer on the wall, and producing a polymer layer (6, 8) containing the crystallization promoter by polymerization treatment. A monomer layer containing the monomer and crystallization promoter is applied on the wall and is polymerized by the polymerization treatment to the polymer layer. The monomer is used that exists at 20-100[deg] C as fluid or in a fluid solution. A substance that consists of acryl- or methacryl group is used as monomer or an organic component is used as monomer. The polymerization treatment comprises a treatment of monomer with a plasma, and heating the wall at 50[deg] C. The treatment with plasma comprises applying a low pressure in the area of the monomer layer. The polymer layer is produced with a thickness of 0.1-1 mm. An independent claim is included for a pre-product for a quartz glass crucible.
