The operating tool has a trajectory for a fastening element (13) e.g. screw, to be fixed. A moving device forwardly moves the fastening element along the trajectory. A transfer device (7) is arranged at an end of the trajectory for receiving the fastening element form the trajectory and for transferring the fastening element into an attachment position. A drive i.e. slide valve, is provided for driving the transfer device, and a tool unit is attached with the fastening element, which is arranged in the attachment position.
