The engine (1) has four cylinders (2.1-2.4) respectively provided with two outlet channels (4.1, 4.2). Exhaust gas channels (5.1, 5.2) are provided downstream of exhaust-gas turbochargers (7.1, 7.2), respectively. The outlet channels of the each cylinder are connected with the exhaust gas channels, which are formed as exhaust manifolds. A bypass (11) is attached to one of the turbochargers. The gas channels include channel sections provided at a side of the engine and channel sections provided at sides of the turbochargers. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a multicylinder internal combustion engine.
