The method comprises initiating a nitrogen-containing argon stream into an upper- or middle area of the pure argon column from which lower area of the argon column is drawn-off to a pure argon product. The operation of the pure argon column is supervised with one of the both measurements such as temperature profile of the pure argon column and differential pressure in the pure argon column. The operation of the pure argon column is supervised with combination of the measurements. A warning message is issued in dependent upon the current result of the measurements. The method comprises initiating a nitrogen-containing argon stream into an upper- or middle area of the pure argon column from which lower area of the argon column is drawn-off to a pure argon product. The operation of the pure argon column is supervised with one of the both measurements such as temperature profile of the pure argon column and differential pressure in the pure argon column. The operation of the pure argon column is supervised with combination of the measurements. A warning message is issued in dependent upon the current result of the measurements. An automatic emergency shutdown of the pure argon column or the product line for the pure argon product is carried out in dependent upon the current result of the measurements.
