The method involves measuring oxygen content at a point in a head and/or at a point under a head of a mixture column (K10) of an air separation column system in an air separation apparatus. An impure argon enriched flow (9) is regulated based on the oxygen content at the point in the head and/or at the point below the head of the mixture column of the air separation column system, where the impure argon is withdrawn from the head of the mixture column of the air separation column system. An independent claim is also included for an air separation apparatus comprising an argon enriched flow separation column.
