The method involves contacting a cursor zone (111) of a touchpad with a finger of a user, and sliding the finger in a touch zone (112) of the touchpad. The finger is removed from a touch field (11), and the contacted position of the touch zone is contacted by the finger within a preset time period. The contacted position of the touch zone is pressed or released such that the pressing or releasing of the touch zone acts as a cursor control command. The touch zone is directly contacted and pressed such that the pressing of the touch zone acts as a touch control command.
