A photovoltaic array with improved thermal behavior includes a photovoltaic array, an electro-optic shutter disposed on the photovoltaic array, and a control system connected at least to the electro-optic shutter. The control system, which operates on the basis of input signals from the sensor, switches the electro-optical shutter between transmissive and reflective states to control the irradiation of light onto the photovoltaic array.
