The method involves determining an intensity curve within a given interval with frequently occurred interval length. A frequency section is scanned after correlation between the intensity curve and another intensity curve. A continuous signal with a maximum value is produced, where temporal condition of the signal is determined by comparative scanning. The maximum value is evaluated based on periodic occurrence, selected for determining a period and supplemented if necessary. Clock speed of a respective piece of music is determined from period values by frequency considerations. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining clock speed of electrical signals that are simultaneously made audible as electro-acoustic piece and music piece, comprising a LED.
