The device (1) has a filter element (4) formed as a hollow body and arranged in filter housing (2), where a to-be-filtered fluid radially flows via the element. A bypass valve (8) has a valve body (9) adjustable between closing and opening positions. The element has an axial end plate (6) to unblock direct flow path between a pre-filtration side and a filtration side under bypass of filter surface in the opening position. The valve has an auxiliary lifter (12) formed as a separate component. The valve body acts upon the lifter in the closed position and closes a flow opening.
