The lining is designed as a closed ring for formation of a friction surface and a friction lining rear side. A carrier element (2) is embedded in friction lining material. The carrier element includes fastening sections (6) for fastening the lining to a clutch disk. The fastening sections are radially formed within the friction surface. The carrier element is formed from wire or sheet pieces, where each wire or sheet piece includes a crossing (28) radially outside of a fastening opening (24). The wire or sheet pieces are fixedly connected with one another in an area of the crossing.
