The drive has a mounting ring (22) that is arranged at a frame (16) for fastening a steam supply line (14) and a condensate discharge line (15) to a bearing housing carrying a drying cylinder (10). A drive transmission (18) has a plug-on transmission that is arranged on a cylinder shaft between a front disk (12) of the cylinder and the frame. The transmission is supported only by moment support at the base. A transmission housing (20) and the bearing housing are coupled together such that small angle change of the drive transmission with respect to the frame is permitted.
