Preparation of metal coated particles comprises electrochemical metal deposition of one or more metals on the particle substrate, whose surface is at least electrically conductive or semi-conductive. Independent claims are included for: (1) metal coated particle obtained by the above process and comprising one or more metal layer containing at least an ionic liquid; and (2) an electrochemical bath comprising the ionic liquid and particle substrate.
