The method involves completely moving an illumination segment (14) around a photo exhibit (12) during illumination of the photo exhibit for photographing the photo exhibit using a camera. A diffuser surface (27) of the illumination segment is made from transparent or semi-transparent material. Light sources (16) are arranged behind the illumination segment for radiating the diffuser surface. Distance between the light sources and the diffuser surface and an illumination angle of the light sources on the diffuser surface are determined through selection of material of the diffuser surface. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for illuminating a photo exhibit.
