The method involves assigning a position of a surface to a processing parameter using a program controlled machine tool with a control program. The position is processed in multiple of processing steps. A deviation of an initial-geometry of the position from a reference-geometry of the position is determined according to the processing steps. The operating parameters are adjusted based on the deviation of the position. The initial-geometry of the position is determined by measurement of deflection of a machine hone of the machine tool.
