The gear has a steering gear housing (10) with rotationally movable gear elements, which comprises a worm gear consisting of a worm (13) and a worm wheel (14), which is coupled with an input shaft (2). The input shaft is supported in a rotationally movable eccentric bush (15) and comprises a groove for gear rod engagement at an end of the input shaft. The eccentric bush comprises a radially movable pretensioning unit (19) for pretensioning the worm wheel towards the worm and/or the groove towards gear teeth of a gear rod. The eccentric bush consists of sinter material.
