Flue gas cleaning method for operation of e.g. ship, involves removing sulfur-containing constituents from gas stream by dry adsorption, and discharging gases through smokestack, where dry adsorption is performed by granules
The method involves conveying sulfur-containing flue gases produced during combustion of heavy fuel oil and diesel oil, as combustion residues into a pressure-resistant two-stage reactor (4). Sooty particles and dust are separated from gas stream by absorption at sorbent. Sulfur-containing constituents are removed from gas stream by dry adsorption. Gases are discharged through a smokestack (9). Heat exchange takes place in the reactor. The dry adsorption is performed by calcium carbonate-containing granules, calcium hydroxide-containing granules or calcium oxide-containing granules. An independent claim is also included for a device for cleaning flue gas produced during combustion of heavy fuel oil and diesel oil, for operation of a watercraft and an oil rig, comprising a reactor.
