The method involves supplying an organic LED during a supply duration that is lesser than a preset cooling period (Tr). The supply of the LED during the cooling period is constituted by current or voltage pulses separated by a rest period (toff). A negative voltage is applied to terminals of the LED during rest period, where the negative voltage is between -3 and -10 voltage. The negative voltage and a zero voltage are successively applied to the terminals during the rest period.
