The method involves selecting a reference hair color chart comprising meshes of different pitches, and determining values of real clarity and real chromaticity for each mesh. Coordinates of the meshes are provided on a graph, and straight lines possessing specific equations are determined from the coordinates. Values of a mesh to be tested are determined. The meshes are searched in the chart when the equations correspond to two straight lines or a single straight line. An average value is calculated if a pitch of the mesh to be tested is equal to the pitch of the meshes.
