The device has two contact strips forming a switch i.e. contactor, connected to an information unit i.e. electrical circuit. A part of the unit and a part of the switch are drowned in a thermoplastic material mold forming a protection box (6). The mold has a part deformable under the effect of force. The arrangement of the deformable part is such that the switch is in one of two states, when the force applied on the deformable part is null or less than a threshold value defined in advance, and a finger (11) passes the switch to other state, when the force exceeds the value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a detector for detecting presence of a person or a passenger on a seat of a motor vehicle (2) a detector for detecting position of a seat with respect to a body of a vehicle.
