The module (1) has a flow meter i.e. differential pressure sensor (6), and a temperature sensor for measuring characteristics parameter such as pressure and temperature, of combustion in a combustion unit (2). An electronic control unit (4) has a determination block (7) e.g. electronic logic circuit, that determines proportion of alcohol in fuel, from the measurements of the sensors and flow rate of water or temperature of gas supplied by the combustion unit. The combustion unit is chosen from a group comprising an internal combustion engine, a reforming reactor or a combustor. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a power module.
