The device (1) has a movement transmission unit i.e. cylindrical friction roller (6), connected to a wheel (3) of a vehicle i.e. motor vehicle. A control unit is connected to an auxiliary driving assembly, and controls a heat engine of the vehicle such that power is driven by the heat engine and/or the auxiliary driving assembly along functioning conditions of the vehicle. The friction roller is driven by an electric driving motor (8) and gripped with a skin of the wheel in a service position to rotationally drive the wheel, and is detached from the wheel in an off-position. An independent claim is also included for a method for implementing an auxiliary driving device.
