The panel (1) has a rock wool panel part (11) laminated on an asbestos cement plate (12), where dimensions of the rock wool panel part and the asbestos cement plate are identical to those of the insulating panel. The asbestos cement plate is composed of Portland cement containing mineral fillers and organic reinforcing fibers. The thickness of the rock wool panel part is in the order of 40-140 mm. The thickness of the asbestos cement plate is 10 mm. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a rock wool based insulating panel.
