The indicator (20) has a wear detection unit (10) formed by a band that is used with a friction lining (7) along a wear direction (X). The wear detection unit has a wear part extended between wear sides (12, 14). One of the wear sides corresponds to an end of the detection unit and defines a wear level of the lining. Another wear side defines another wear level of the lining. The detection unit has surfaces parallel to the wear direction and extended between the wear sides, where the surfaces are separated by thickness of the band. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electronic wear detection device comprising an electrical loop forming unit (2) a method for fabricating a wear indicator.
