The device has an intermediate plate (2) releasably mounted on a body shell (3) of a vehicle. Rods (4a, 4b) are supported by the plate and articulate a casement e.g. boot lid (1), with respect to the plate. A mobile locking unit passes from a state, in which the plate is locked on the body shell, to a state, in which the plate is locked on the casement. The locking unit includes hooks (5, 6), and is movably mounted on the plate. The plate is locked on both the body shell and the casement in an intermediate state of the locking unit. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a boot lid.
