The engine (1) has four cylinders (2), where each cylinder has two exhaust valves (4, 5) connected to exhaust lines (6, 7) in which turbines (8) of turbocompressors (9) are arranged, respectively. A junction (23) for supercharge air flows (21) of active compressors (14, 15) is arranged in downstream of the compressors. A valve (25) with an air flap (26) is controlled externally, and is arranged in downstream of one of the compressors and in upstream of the junction. The junction has an air regrouping space (22) in which the valve is arranged. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an internal combustion engine.
