The invention relates to a motor vehicle lining component (1) comprising, arranged on one another: a first layer (2) of resiliently compressible cushioning material, said first layer having an uncompressed state where its face is place (3) forms at least one sharp edge (4) with its edge (5), a second layer (6) of elastically compressible finishing material which extends along and on either side of said edge, a coating (7) covering said second layer, said component further comprising an assembly means (11) arranged to press said coating vertically above said edge compressing it to pass said first layer from its uncompressed state in a compressed state.
