The player (1) has a frontage visible from an outer side of the player, and a housing (5) arranged to receive an optical disc type data medium i.e. compact disc, in order to allow reading of information from the data medium by the player. The housing is opened on the frontage. An optical device (6) allows recovery of a part of light emitted by a light source (7) i.e. LED, in order to partially illuminate the housing, and for lightening a control knob (2) distinct from the housing. The light source illuminates the housing and the control knob at a rear side of the control knob.
