The method involves connecting a network interface card to a communication gateway, and detecting access to a storage unit i.e. subscriber identity module card (402), by the communication gateway, where the network interface card does not comprise personalization data (R2) with a media access control address. The personalization data is transmitted from a personalization device i.e. server (50), to the network interface card via a connection such as radio frequency connection, conformed to radio frequency standards in case of positive detection of access. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for personalization of a network interface card to cooperate with a communication gateway (2) a communication gateway for personalization of a network interface card.
