The device (3) has a side protection stringer provided on a side of a vehicle and extending parallel to an axis of the vehicle, where a first L shaped support body (6a) and a second L shaped support body of the stringer have free ends (33) connected with a longeron (2). An upper part is fixed at the longeron. A retaining part retains the free ends and a middle orientation part (22) of the bodies. A position of the orientation part with respect to the fixing part is varied in a horizontal plane, so that the bodies swivel with respect to the longeron in a range of predetermined alpha values.
