The vehicle has a center pillar with a reinforcement comprising support walls (32, 33) and a central rib (31) stiffened by a rigidifying shell. A beam (11) is supported on the walls during transverse impact on the vehicle, and on the rib during frontal impact of the vehicle against an obstacle. A reinforcing piece (4) e.g. angle bracket, is placed inside the reinforcement to cover the rigidifying shell by superimposition, where the piece is made of steel. The reinforcing piece distributes effort transmitted by the beam to the reinforcement during impact, to avoid wrenching of the shell.
