The method involves collecting greasy substances on surface (S) of skin or hair by using a skin or hair treatment system (10). The treatment system is provided with a collector (12) for collecting greasy substances without contact with the hair. A part of the greasy substances collected by the collector is eliminated by thermolysis and/or photolysis, without destruction of the collector, and the skin or the hair is subjected to the thermolysis or photolysis. The collector is provided with a band substrate i.e. band, having an affinity for the greasy substances. An independent claim is also included for a system for treating hair or skin.
