The device (1) has support units i.e. telescopic posts (10, 11), supporting a receptacle (12) that receives a wall paper log (16). Each support unit and the receptacle cooperate with each other for maintaining the wall paper log in height. The receptacle has an elongated cradle provided with a set of rollers that is mounted freely along axes parallel to a longitudinal axis of the cradle such that the wall paper log rests on one of the rollers. The receptacle has a pressure device that exerts pressure on the wall paper log to maintain the wall paper log in the cradle. An independent claim is also included for a step ladder comprising a wall paper fixing device.
