The stand has a driving unit to connect a rear roller (1) and a friction element (13) such that relative movement between an axle (15) of the roller and the element is assured during rotation of the roller due to the presence of a drive wheel (26) of a test vehicle on the roller. An arm (30) connects the axle or the element to a mechanism formed of a tie rod (11) and a locking finger (5). The mechanism is actuated during positioning of the vehicle on the stand. A stop (35) stops the relative movement between the axle and the element, when the drive wheel is at a better position on the roller.
