The method involves defining a common and single repository for storing heterogeneous physical data e.g. pressure, transiting in a monitoring system and for storing associated metadata. A translation is provided to a metadata dictionary for constructing a bijective correspondence in a representation understandable by different information processing elements for video samples having digitized physical parameters or for context information element captured by sensors. The physical data are sent to corresponding processing modules (3) of the monitoring system. An independent claim is also included for a monitoring system comprising a processing module.
