The method involves regulating a maximal value of a setpoint of engine torque transmitted to an electric machine (2) such that voltage at terminals of an electric energy storage battery (3) is maintained above determined primary threshold value. The battery is modelized by mounting a continuous voltage generator (4) and an internal resistor (5) in a series manner, where the electric machine is provided with an electric motor for driving motorized wheels of a vehicle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a data recording medium on which a computer program for implementing a method for controlling an electric machine is recorded (2) a driving assembly comprising a device for controlling an electric machine (3) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for implementing a method for controlling an electric machine.
