The device has a side head-restraint (19) mounted to pivot with respect to a side wall (7) of a motor vehicle i.e. automobile, between a retracted position (E) and a deployed position shifted along the side wall. The deployed position is formed opposite to a side glass pane (17). A connection element connects the head-restraint and the wall, where the connection element is pivoted with respect to the head-restraint. An independent claim is also included for a side part of a motor vehicle comprising a rear side panel.
