The present invention relates to a method for chemically modifying, in its thickness, a polymeric matrix chosen from fluoropolymer matrices and aliphatic polymer matrices, said method comprising at least one step of irradiating said matrix with a UV light of wave below 300 nm to generate, in the thickness of said matrix, zones having short chains of polymers, formed by scission of the existing chains during the passage of UV radiation and having free radicals, hereinafter referred to as "activated zones ".
