A refrigerator has a storage compartment 107 thermally insulated by a rear portion 111, and includes an atomizing device 131 for spraying mist into the storage compartment. The atomizing device, which may be an electrostatic device, has a tip 135 from which mist is sprayed. The tip is cooled, such that moisture in the air is condensed on the tip and sprayed into the storage compartment. The atomizing device further includes a heat conduction member 134 which is coupled to the tip, and which can be heated or cooled to indirectly adjust the tip temperature such that the amount of water on the tip can be adjusted. The atomizing device tip may take the form of an electrode, and a further electrode 136 completes the electrostatic circuit. The atomizing device may also include a voltage applying portion 133 for generating a potential difference across the electrodes. The invention allows a mist to be stably sprayed and the prevention of excess condensation on the tip, and thus the reliability of atomization can be improved.
