The invention concerns a receiver 2 for receiving multiple carrier signals such as OFDM signals. The receiver has estimation means 18 for forming individual reliability estimates of the reliability with which data from respective carriers is received. These reliability estimates form the basis of the soft inputs to a decoder 4 such as a Viterbi decoder. This allows the extent to which each carrier is affected by interference to be taken into account in the decoding process, so that less reliance will be placed on those carriers affected by interference. The receiver may be a UWB Multiband OFDM receiver and may be subjected to interfering signals from a co-located transceiver 3, such as a WLAN transceiver. The WLAN transceiver may inform the receiver of the frequencies it is going to use, allowing the receiver to deduce which of its carriers will be less reliable. Alternatively, the reliability estimates may be based on measurements of a signal quality metric.
