PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infrared image pickup device and an infrared image displaying method capable of displaying an infrared image so that a pilot can easily recognize a specific target useful in a flight operation of an aircraft. PSOLUTION: The infrared image pickup device mounted on an aircraft includes at least: a detection part fixed to the aircraft and detecting infrared rays radiated from an object; a processing part generating two-dimensional temperature information of the object on the basis of a signal serially output from the detection part; and a display part displaying the infrared image on the basis of the two-dimensional temperature information. The processing part extracts a preset specific target (a target to be a mark such as a ridge line, a target to be an obstacle such as electric wire or another aircraft) from the object on the basis of the two-dimensional temperature information, and sets temperature information other than the specific target of the object to a predetermined constant low value so that the specific target is identified.
