PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a functionally gradient material utilizing a phase transformation by working.;SOLUTION: To the surface of a material generating the phase transformation with introduction of strain, the working is performed and thereby, the phase transformation is generated only in the vicinity of the surface of the material.
